Three auger screws move the contents from the bin into the pre-compression chamber.
A set of two (2) rolls -one upper plain (male) roll and lower three-piece flanged (female) roll- create the compacting/extruding action when rotating. A stripper wedge creates a secondary compaction zone and strips the formed strip from the lower roll. The rolls and the stripper wedge are made from quality machinery, or tool steel, and are hardened and ground.
The width of the strip is determined by the width of the upper and lower rolls (the “tooling”). The desired thickness of the strip is obtained by the eccentric setting of the upper roll, and by the position of the stripper wedge. A window and access door in the bin and a window in the pre-compression chamber allow monitoring of the process, and cleaning of the machine.
